OPEN WATER DIVER The world's most popular scuba course

Learn to scuba dive in Ireland

The PADI Open Water Diver course

If you've always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world's most popular scuba course and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.

Why With Us

  • We are located at the edge of Europe on the spectacular Wild Atlantic Way
  • We have a UNIQUE AQUARIUM which we use for our Courses & Fun Dives
  • We care for our environment
  • We have a heated swimming pool in our school
  • We offer FREE of charge JACUZZI, SAUNA & STEAM ROOM

What You Learn

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

  • Knowledge Development eLearning - study online to understand basic principles of scuba diving,
  • Confined Water - swimming pool dives, and our unique Dive Aquarium,  to learn basic scuba skills
  • Open Water Dives  to review your skills and explore!

Why eLearning?

At Dive Academy, we use PADI's eLearning portal for all knowledge development for the Open Water course, so we can focus our time & efforts on teaching you the practical skills in the confined and open water sessions.

  • Minimized class time and maximum in - water time
  • Accessibility anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, seven days a week!
  • Learn at your own pace, in your own home or wherever you choose

Our unique Dive Aquarium – a key part of your learning

At Dive Academy, we have the only dive aquarium in Ireland; this provides an opportunity to sample ocean - like conditions in a confined water environment. Learning basic skills in a warm water swimming pool is an important step, but Dive Academy is unique in that we can continue the Confined Water practice in our aquarium, which is filled with cool seawater. This gives you a better appreciation of diving at depth, and also the opportunity to dive in exposure gear-wetsuit.
