Add to your training with real life, hands on experience. We believe this is the best grounding you can get if you’d like to take your diving career to the next step. You will be qualified to guide certified divers, conduct courses, and assist Instructors in some of their tasks. Earn a living, doing what you love! Become a professional you’ll be able to work in the dive industry in dive centres and resorts around the world.

Each Divemaster we offer is tailor made to suit your level of experience and we work with you to ensure that by the end of the dive course, you have a solid grounding in all the areas of knowledge development as well as some real work/practical experience that you can add to your CV when applying for future jobs within the dive industry.

    Divemaster Program Outline:

    The SSI Divemaster Course consists of 6 phases of skill development:


    1. Academic Training

    2. Confined Water Training

    3. Open Water Training

    4. Confined Water Evaluations

    5. Open Water Evaluations

    6. Academic Evaluations


    Key Skills & Workshops:

    + Science of Diving

    + Dive Guide Theory

    + Water Fitness Evaluation

    + Snorkelling Skills Workshop

    + Open Water Diver Workshop

    + Mastering all skills from the SSI Open Water Diver program at an expert level  

    + Diver Stress & Rescue Skills Workshop

    + Dive Briefing and Guiding Evaluations

    + Deep and Night Diving Work


    By the end of the course, you’ll have the experience and qualifications to lead dives and guide others, making you an expert in the diving community.

  • What To bring?

    As a Dive Professional, it’s ideal if you bring your own diving gear. However, if you don’t have everything, we can help you with missing items. At a minimum, you should bring:


    + Mask

    + Snorkel

    + Fins

    + Wetsuit


    We also offer great discounts on dive equipment for our Professional Level Candidates and are happy to advise you on dive equipment purchases before your arrival.

  • Exclusions

    + Dive Gear (rental available on request)

    + Divemaster eLearning package

    + CPR / First Aid & Oxygen First Aid training within two (2) years

  • Prerequisites

    + Minimum 18 years old

    + Diver Rescue certification or equivalent

    + 40 logged open water dives or more to start the course

    + Medical Statement signed by a physician within one (1) year

    + Proof of CPR / First Aid & Oxygen First Aid training within two (2) years

  • Achievement

    As an active SSI Divemaster, you can:


    + Guide certified divers on recreational scuba dives

    + Teach, supervise, and issue recognition cards for the SSI Snorkelling program

    + Act as a certified assistant for all SSI recreational courses

    + Assist during open water training dives


    Qualify as a Training Specialist for the SSI Ecology Specialty programs:


    + Coral Identification Specialty

    + Fish Identification Specialty

    + Marine Ecology / Naturalist Specialty

    + Sea Turtle Ecology Specialty

    + Shark Ecology Specialty

  • What is the next step after DM?

    After completing this course, you can sign up for the Instructor Training Course to continue your PRO scuba education.

  • Is accommodation included?

    Yes, your accommodation is included in our package price. You will share a room with one other person a fellow divemaster.

  • What is the age requirement?

    18 years old or older when you sign up for the Divemaster Internship with us. 

  • What should I bring with me?

    Warm clothes, swimwear, dive gear (minimum mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuit) and a bicycle.

  • What is CPR / First Aid & Oxygen First Aid?

    This is the emergency first response course. It can be done anywhere before you come to us or maybe, you have it already... Don't worry if you don't.


    It can also be done with us (React Right) during your stay. Please note, this half-a-day course is valid for 24 months. 

  • How big is a group during the course?

    Each time the group is 2 candidates.

  • Should I have my own dive gear?

    Yes, at least mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuit. The other missing gear you can rent from us (extra cost).

  • How is the water visibility?

    Water visibility can range from 5 meters (17 feet) to infinity, depending on conditions.

  • Should I be a good swimmer?

    Well, good enough to swim 300 m... Don't worry, easy stuff.



  • Is there any hidden costs?

    Yes, you will need to cover your own living expenses, such as food and drinks.

  • What can I do out of course hours?

    Party, study... Explore Inishmore, learn Irish or clean our boat.
